Op 16 januari hadden we de laatste Grand Illusion Bee, kijk maar even mee wat de anderen ervan gemaakt hebben:

And this one is a special one, I got a picture in the email.

Hij is van Joanne, ze maakte een kwart van de blokken in de originele kleuren. Goed gedaan hoor!

Alleen van Anne Claudine haar quilt/blokken heb ik helaas geen foto, maar misschien schrijft ze zelf wel een blogje!

Grand Illusion, het resultaat

Op 1 januari kregen we. zoals verwacht, het resultaat te zien van de Grand Illusion Mysterie en konden we de quilt in elkaar gaan naaien.

On januari first, there was the reveal of the Grand Illusion mysterie. We get to assemble the quilt.

Ik heb na lang wikken en wegen 16 blokken gemaakt, ik moest er eentje bijmaken. Dit is het geworden:

After a lot of thinking, I made 16 blocks, I only needed to make units for one more block. This is the result:

Nog zonder randen, die komen er de komende dagen wel aan. Ook daar moet ik een paar blokjes bijmaken om het kloppend te krijgen. 

Still without borders, I will add these in the days to come. I need to make some extra border blocks, so it will fit.

En wat betreft mijn doelen voor 2014, die heb ik BIJNA allemaal gehaald. De laatste die af kwam is Easy Street.

I almost made all of the goals for 2014. The last one I could finish was EASY STREET.

HOERA!! HOORAH!

Dit is een grote quilt die ik erg intensief heb doorgestikt, dus het afwerken kostte veel tijd. Ik ben blij dat die nu van mijn lijstje is.

It is a big quilt, with a lot of quilting, so it took a long time to finish. I am so happy to have this one done.

Alleen twee handquilt projecten liggen er nog, die heb ik dus maar doorgeschoven naar dit jaar. Van het lijstje van 2015 zijn al twee projecten vorig jaar af gekomen, dus ik vind het niet zo heel erg. Ik ga gewoon lekker verder met afmaken.

The only things I did not finish are two hand quilting projects, I have to do them this year. It doesn't really mather since I have finished two other quilts that were meant to be 2015 finishes. 

Ik heb weer erg genoten van deze mysterie, Bonnie Hunter hartelijk bedankt!!

Zaterdag hebben we nieuwe kleding en schoenen gekocht voor onze 13 jarige dochter.

Voor de kerst, want een rok doet ze anders ECHT NIET aan!!

Mysterie, deel drie

Vrijdagmiddag... Voor de derde keer naar de Bee in Staphorst. We konden thuis nog net de instructies van het derde deel van de mysterie uitprinten. En toen lekker aan het naaien.

Greta is nog bezig met het tweede deel op haar featherweight machientje.

Greta is working on the second part.

Gré was er voor het eerst, maar zij had thuis al flink wat gedaan.

Gré came for the first time, but had quite some work done already.

En Netty is druk aan het snijden.

And Netty is cutting.

Ook Hennie kwam even kijken.

Hennie came by for a visit.

Dit zijn mijn stroken. In groen, donkerbruin en neutraal.

These are my strips in neutrals, green en dark brown.

Gerda was klaar om deel twee te persen, ze draagt ze hier, haha.

Gerda was ready to press. She is waring part two, haha.

Eenmaal weer thuis, zijn er gelukkig al heel wat blokjes af. Hier zijn er twee van deel drie.

At home, I finished a lot of units, here are two of them.

Deel twee is al af.

Part two is finished.

En deel 1 ook.

And  so is part one.

Ik ben wel heel benieuwd wat het gaat worden!!

What will it be like, all put together??!

Op de tafel is het een drukte van belang. Aan de ene kant de featherweight 'minie' waar ik de mysterie op naai, aan de andere kant ben ik de Easy Street aan het quilten, want die moet dit jaar ook nog af.

A mess on the table, at one end, I'm sewing the mysterie, at the other end, I'm quilting Easy Street. That one has a deadline, I like to finish it this year.

Het gaat alleen niet zo snel met al die quilt inspecteurs in de buurt.

Well, I have two quilt inspectors, so it takes longer than neccesary.

GI mysterie part 2

More than a year ago I was gifted with a lot of sewed half square triangles. They were put together in lots of different ways.

See above... But I also had pinwheels and even singles. So, I had to figure out a way to use them. They had a odd size, so I started to cut them all to 2.5 inch.

With the left over fabric, which was included in the gifted bag, I cut strips to make fourpatches.

I finished the quilt a few weeks ago.

I still had a lot of HST left, in the original odd size. So..... I decided to use them in a leader and ender project and sew split nine patches with them, with 2 inch squares. 

But back to business. Guess  wich methode I was going to use in the next step of the Grand Illusion mysterie!?? Right, the third one, wich will me profite with lots of two inch HST to work with!!

This is how they turned out!

They still needs to get a good press.

These are ready to go! 

Here are two 4.5 inch finished split nine patch blocks, unpressed in this stage.

I love them!!

Oh, and since I'm only making 60 percent of the units Bonnie is telling us to make, I have finished them all! Hoorah!! Dubble diamond units. 

Just as a reminder, here is my step one.

Can't wait to see what she's up to for the next step! I only have to wait untill friday!

Een onverwacht uitje

Gisteren besloot mijn vriendin G toch maar mee te gaan doen aan de mysterie van Bonnie Hunter. Dus, leuk, wij aan het zoeken naar de juiste kleurencombinatie voor haar quilt. En daar kwamen we best uit natuurlijk. We misten alleen 1 kleur. Althans, de kleur hadden we bedacht, we misten alleen STOF in die kleur!
Dus.... in de auto gestapt en naar Nieuw Buinen gereden, naar de Naaidoos.

Wat deze winkel vooral heeft is ruimte, heel veel ruimte. Ze kunnen dus de rollen stof lekker breed uit leggen, zoals je op de foto's kunt zien. Ze liggen op kleur of op thema, hierboven zie je de roosjes.

En er is dus ook veel muur om quilts te exposeren. Momenteel is er een tentoonstelling van Marry Koorn. Heel veel kleurige quilts heeft ze gemaakt. Hier een paar close ups!

In de koffie ruimte hingen ook nog een paar kerstquilts. Leuk om vast een beetje in de sfeer te komen, het is per slot van rekening december!

We hebben het juiste lapje gevonden, en natuurlijk nog wat extra.... haha, daar ontkom je bijna niet aan hè?!

Morgen weer een nieuwe stap in het mysterie proces, wat zal het deze keer weer gaan worden....

Grand Illusions part 1

Sinds vrijdagmiddag 12.00 uur, plaatselijke tijd, kunnen we aan de slag met het eerste deel van de nieuwe mysterie van Bonnie Hunter, Grand Illusion.

Since friday afternoon, we are able to work on the first part of de new mystery of Bonnie Hunter, Grand Illusion.

Hier nog even al mijn kleuren bij elkaar. De middelste gebloemde lap wordt mijn rand.

These are the colours I have chosen. The fabric in the middle, with the flowers, is going to be the border.

De eerste stroken werden gesneden bij de Bee bij Quiltpalace en de wolmand in Staphorst. Na een paar gezellige uren, waarin zelfs de eerste steekjes al gezet werden, ging ik in het weekend rustig door met de eerste opdracht. 

The first strips were cut at the quilting Bee at quiltpalace. We had such a wonderful time with each other and were able to sew the first seams. Over the weekend I managed to complete a whole lot more.

Het moeten 'broken dish' blokjes worden. Hier liggen er vier bij elkaar. Staat wel leuk, maar ik betwijfel of ze zo aan elkaar gezet gaan worden. Waarschijnlijk niet.... Maar hoe dan wel, dat blijft nog even raden. Dat maakt het naaien van die mysteries zo leuk!!

These are 'broken dish' units. Here are four on the table. Propably not the way they finish in the quilt, but for now it looks nice!!

Wondering how they going to end up in the finished pattern makes sewing these mysteries so much fun!

Je moet natuurlijk wel in de buurt blijven en bij de les, want anders zijn je gesneden stroken zo 'bezet'. Zou Saartje stiekem een lapjeskat zijn??

When you walk away, even for a second, the strips are taken over by our cat Saartje. Perhaps she is secretly a patch-cat.

Ik maak de quilt wat kleiner dan het origineel, dus dat scheelt alweer, maar het is toch nog wel aardig wat werk. Maar ik heb tot vrijdag, dus dat moet gaan lukken!!

I'm not making all the units, my quilt is going to be a bit smaller, but  I still have enough to do. The next clou is on friday, so I still have some days left to finish the job!
